Hatzolah and Chaverim did a great job today.
We brought in dozens of volunteers which included Hatzolah members, Chaverim members, and lay-community members who gave up their Sundays with their families in order to search and possibly save a life.
At about 4 on Sunday afternoon the subject’s vehicle was found at a remote hiking trail. Community members immediately began searching. A unified command post was setup. In order to prevent volunteers from getting lost and to maintain order, community members were required to check-in in an orderly fashion.
Each group was required to wear safety vests and checkin via radio contact every 15-20 minutes. As night time approached, the authorities felt that it was not safe for the volunteers to continue to search in the rugged off-road trails.
However, due to the persistence of the community members on scene well into the dark night, the LA County Sheriff Search & Rescue team continued their search. Eventually, at around 9PM, word was received that the missing person had been found with minor injuries. Further details on the subject’s medical condition is not known at this time. We thank the community for their support and a special thanks goes out to the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department for their efforts.
